Navigation is key to your website.  It allows users to navigate through the complex web of pages, and it's needed for search engines like Google, Yahoo and Ask to index your content.  If your content is not being fully indexed, then your missing out on page hits, and your Google Page Ranking will be much lower than expected. If they cant't find you on Google, then you don't exist.

The Kirkercom Navigation Server Control has been designed and tested from the ground up to be search engine reliable.  All other functions, features and gadgets come second. Second, it's easy to program using the properties panel for the control.  Just like the Asp.net DropDown ListBox, Navigation Control uses the same format to populate it's collection. There are no messy XML files to deal with, so it's easy to use. We found XML Files to not be as flexible, because XML does not support full URL Addressing.

Embedded JavaScript is used to implement rollover functions and other animated features, and you can use an independent CSS Style Sheet, and direct the Navigation Server Control to pick up the sheet and automatically load it into the header tags of your webform. There is no need to worry about Document Type, for all HTML is autogenerated by ASP.Net.

You can preview your menu as it is being built through Visual Studio 2005, Web Express Edition and Visual Studio 2008.

The Navigation Server Control is capable of making navigation menus that are both horizontal and vertical in orientation.

Below are menu examples that are horizontal. This controls is very flexible, and you can create many different combinations of styles and methods. The possibilities are only limited to the amount of time you spend in experimenting with your designs. Combinations of CSS Styles, and MenuItem Property Overrides are possible.

The Navigation Server has 2 different controls built into it, one called hmc for horizontal menus, and the other called vmc for vertical menus.

These are examples of vmc or Vertical Menu Control. Once again, Navigation Server Control is very flexible in design, and through the combination of CSS Styles, and MenuItem Property Overrides, you can make many different looks and feels. 

CSS can be programed first for MenuItems.  Next you can program properties in the MenuItem Properties Collection, that will override any CSS programming that you have made.

vmc allows you to select an image for use in the menu header. You can them program in text or images for your MenuItems.
